It’s ‘high’ time that the record should be set about which is better for you: Weed or Alcohol?
For diehard fans of the miraculous plant, weed, it’s not even something that needs to be given a lot of thought, but, IS a need to determine which of the two self administered substances is better than the other.
There have been plenty of studies done which determine that weed is much safer for the human body when you compare it to alcohol.
According to a study that was conducted back in 2015, weed is approximately 140 times less likely to become deadly for you than alcohol.
That’s saying a lot.
In spite of that, the U.S. federal government still upholds the prohibition on weed with the exception of a few but growing number of states legalizing the use of marijuana.
Alcohol on the other hand, happens to be a legal substance and is more acceptable by societal standards. It has a lot to do with the fact that many people aren’t well educated in how much better weed is vs alcohol.
When it comes to weed vs alcohol for your body, your mind and soul, this post will set the record straight on the debate.

In the weed vs alcohol debate, we are going to take a look at the effects both of these substances have on the human mind. Both weed and alcohol affect the human brain in different manners.
People who prefer to smoke weed rather than drink alcohol are less likely to engage in violent behavior like getting into fights or taking risks. These are the two things that people who drink alcohol are very likely to do. There is a proper link that exists between alcohol consumption and violent behavior.
You don’t even need a study to prove that. Add to that, according to a study conducted by the National Council on Alcoholism, more than 40% of all the violent crimes being committed have alcohol consumption as an integral factor.
You won’t find that many weed smokers getting into violent crimes because they are high. In fact, people who smoke weed are much more peaceful than people who drink alcohol.
A study conducted in 2014 found that couples who prefer to smoke weed over drinking alcohol are less likely to have domestic abuse problems. In essence, a family that smokes up together stays together. It’s a joint family.
Weed vs Alcohol and The Body
When it comes to the weed vs alcohol debate, this one is a clear win for weed hands down. The reason being that it is not about determining whether or not smoking weed is less harmful or anything.
The fact of the matter is that smoking weed has actual benefits for the human body. It is used to cure and ease many symptoms like chronic pain, cancer, epilepsy, depression, anxiety, insomnia and the list can keep going on and on.
Alcohol on the other hand has been used for medicinal reasons in the past but it’s not relevant as a medical substance any longer.
The National Cancer Institute has actually found that alcohol happens to be a carcinogenic substance. In essence, it means that the more alcohol you drink, the more likely you are of getting some form of cancer.
When it comes to the debate of weed vs alcohol, we all know that weed is right on the opposite spectrum of the scale when it comes to cancer. There are facts that indicate cancer cells can be killed by smoking weed.
There was a study conducted early on this year which consisted of surveying over 300,000 people that have a substance abuse problem because of alcohol and they found plenty of interesting factors to add to the weed vs alcohol debate.
The liver is one part of the body that has to work over time because of alcohol. We know that already.
What was interesting was that those alcoholics who smoke weed have significantly less damage to their livers in comparison to those who don’t.
Weed vs Alcohol On the Move
First thing first, if you are under the influence of any kind of substance be it weed or alcohol, you should not get behind the driving wheel.
That being said, the numbers clearly show that if you’re behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol, you are ten times more likely to have an accident in comparison to if you have smoked weed.
It is also a fact that there is an apparent difference between a person who is sober, and a person who is stoned, and has smoked weed.
When you are driving after getting stoned, there is a difference in the likelihood of crashing the car. If you’re someone who has been smoking weed quite like a pro then you’re less likely to get into an accident in comparison to someone who is an inexperienced smoker.
There have been research into this and it has been found out that if a regular smoker has about a third of a joint, they will drive more cautiously but smoking a whole joint might just get them into trouble with their motor functions and reaction timings while on the move.
Overall in the weed vs alcohol debate, when it comes to being behind the driving wheel under the influence of either of the two substances, it is safer to be high than to be drunk.
Regardless of the stats and debate, you shouldn’t drink alcohol and drive OR smoke weed and drive.
Weed vs Alcohol at Parties
Okay, so maybe alcohol does win somewhere. There is no arguing the fact that alcohol is the best substance to get you eased into social situations.
It makes you confident and more out-going. Weed on the other hand does tend to make you more socially awkward and lazy.
